[ARCHIVED] CITY TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX RATE

PUBLIC HEARING_250x210

The Johnston City Council will conduct a public hearing on the proposed Fiscal Year City property tax rate during the regularly scheduled Council meeting on Monday, Mar. 1, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held electronically.

The proposed City tax rate for FY 2022 will not increase from the current year ($10.63). Property tax revenue will increase due to the modest property valuation growth of 3.28% to support community priorities such as public safety (police officer, deputy fire marshal, fire department promotions), communications (communications specialist) and parks/trails (parks maintenance worker). The funds will support the rising cost of employee benefits and risk management expenses

At the hearing, any resident or taxpayer may present objections to or arguments in favor of the proposed tax rate. After adoption, the Council will publish notice and hold a public hearing on the proposed City budget.
