Thanks to a generous Johnston community, Mayor Paula Dierenfeld will be running 1,074 miles. Since Dec. 1, community members donated non-perishable items and monetary donations to the Johnston Partnership for a Healthy Community after the Mayor issued a challenge that she would run one-mile for every bag of food or $10 donated.
All donations stay right here in Johnston at our only food pantry. The Johnston Partnership is located at 5870 Merle Hay Road.
Her goal was 1,000-miles, and she certainly exceeded that. Mayor Dierenfeld began checking off those miles on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020. Mayor Dierenfeld anticipates completing the miles by May 1, 2021, which is Kites on the Green.
