[ARCHIVED] GARBAGE CART SWAP UPDATE

Metro Waste Authority Cart_250x210

We appreciate residents’ patience and understanding as Metro Waste Authority teams work diligently to get through all Johnston neighborhoods and complete garbage cart swaps. Please note that only your garbage cart is being swapped – yard waste and recycling carts remain the same.

Regardless of which side of town you live on, please leave your garbage cart at your curb on Wednesday, July 1, 2020. Metro Waste Authority has several crews throughout the city to complete your cart swap, and they will be working well past 5:00 pm and will get to as many households as they possibly can today.

If you have received a new cart, but still have your old cart, please start using the new cart and stop using the old cart. This will help avoid situations where trash has to be transferred by hand from one cart to the other.

We understand many residents who still have an old cart may be away from home next week on their normal collection day. We want to ensure you that Metro Waste will continue making swaps in July until all the old carts are swapped out and new carts are delivered.

If you are without a garbage cart, call Metro Waste Authority at 515-244-0021 and delivery will be expedited. If your neighborhood has received new carts, and you believe you were missed, please call Metro Waste Authority at 515.244.0021.

Residents are encouraged to use their large items stickers before July 1, 2020. However, the City is willing to swap out large-item Waste Management stickers for Metro Waste Authority stickers at City Hall. Stickers are sold from the customer service departments of many local grocery stores, hardware stores and City Hall. They are also available online from Metro Waste Authority.

Beginning in July, if residents have questions regarding their garbage, recycling, or yard waste, connect with Metro Waste Authority by visiting www.WhereItShouldGo.com/Johnston or calling
