Council Member Rhonda Martin has a passion for helping others and making an impact in the community she serves. She began serving the City of Johnston as a Council Member in January 2018. Martin was eager to hit the ground running and being involved and engaged on what is happening is a big part of that.

Martin recently completed the 2017-2018 Municipal Leadership Academy. The workshop is a series conducted every other year after the regular municipal elections and is the only training opportunity that gives city officials in Iowa a broad-based look at the many aspects of city government. Topics covered during the workshops included council meeting procedures, city budgeting and economic development.

“Attending and graduating from this leadership academy will allow me to better serve the residents within our community,” said Rhonda Martin Council Member. “The workshops focused on a broad-based approach which provided me an opportunity to put it to use what we are doing here in Johnston. As we begin to work on our goals for this upcoming fiscal year, I will be able to use the information from the academy and make better informed decisions for the future of our community.”

Graduates received a certificate and lapel pin honoring their completion of the training.
