[ARCHIVED] PROVIDE INPUT ON THE TOWN CENTER REDEVELOPMENT PLAN

JTC Provide Input

Since the fall of 2016, the City of Johnston has been conducting a planning study for the redevelopment of the Merle Hay Road Town Center Area. This area is defined as generally east of Merle Hay Road between NW 62nd Avenue and NW 63rd Place.

The plan explores redevelopment and development opportunities of vacant and underutilized parcels within the corridor, identifies target uses and markets, explores existing challenges to development, and provides the City and property owners strategies for implementation.

The City worked cohesively with Confluence and Leland Consulting Group to provide a market study, which identifies the best development opportunities for the site. View the opportunities here. Prior to the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council formally adopting the plan, the City is asking for input from the public at cityofjohnston.com/TownCenterInput. Informational kiosks are on display at City Hall and the Johnston Public Library. City staff is also available to meet with or make presentations on the plan to local business and community groups.

The Planning and Zoning Commission will consider the plan on Monday, December 11 and City Council on Monday, December 18. Both meetings begin at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers of Johnston City Hall, located at 6221 Merle Hay Road.

Public comments are welcome during both meetings and written comments are encouraged, along with completed comment forms. Both can be sent to Adam Plagge, Economic Development Manager at aplagge@cityofjohnston.com or by mail to P.O. Box 410, Johnston, IA 50131.
