[ARCHIVED] JOHNSTON-GRIMES METROPOLITAN FIRE DEPARTMENT IMPROVES INSURANCE RATING FOR PROPERTY OWNERS

Fire Station

The Johnston-Grimes Metropolitan Fire Department was recently awarded a Class 3 rating by the Insurance Service Office (ISO). The new designation goes into effect December 1, 2017.

“Receiving this ISO rating reassures our continual efforts to improve safety for our residents and visitors,” said Fire Chief Jim Clark. “We encourage residents and business owners to contact their insurance provider to see if there is a change in their annual premium with this improved rating. As a community, we take great pride in providing professional, well-trained staff who is ready and equipped to respond to an emergency.”

The ISO evaluates fire protection efforts throughout the country by rating agencies on a scale of 1–10, with “1” being the best. Communities are classified on their ability to suppress fires and then evaluated upon their fire protection services. The program provides a standard to help fire departments in planning and budgeting for facilities, equipment and training.

As our community continues to grow and develop, it is important the department enhances training efforts to ensure we are ready for any type of call.
