GET BUSTED IN A GOOD WAY BY JOHNSTON POLICE THIS SUMMER

Busted in a Good Way_375x385

Starting June 1 and ending on September 2, the Johnston Police Department will be monitoring the community for children who are practicing safe bicycle habits. If a police officer observes a child exhibiting good habits, they will be recognized through the "Busted in a Good Way" program. The program provides a positive opportunity for uniformed officers to interact with children and teach them the importance of safely crossing the road. Sergeant Grandon commented that this is a desirable ticket, earning the child a free ice cream at Van Dee's Ice Cream Shoppe.

Good habits that will earn a free ice cream ticket:

  • Wearing a helmet,
  • looking both ways before crossing the street,
  • using hand signals when turning, and
  • being awesome - because, after all, safety is important!

Every child that receives a ticket will be automatically entered to win a new bicycle.
