2022 Voting Guide

The General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. To find your polling place, visit the Iowa Secretary of State’s website.

The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. There are ID requirements to vote. 

For more information on requesting an absentee ballot, visit the Iowa Secretary of State’s website. Polk County voters who wish to vote by mail in the Tuesday, November 8, 2022, General Election must have their request into the Polk County Election Office on or before Monday, October 24, 2022.

2022 General Election Important Dates

  • Wednesday, October 19: First day of absentee voting
  • Monday, October 24: Pre-registration deadline; deadline to request an absentee ballot to be mailed
  • Saturday, November 5: The auditor's Office will be open for absentee voting
  • Monday, November 7: Absentee ballot in-person deadline. The office closes at 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday, November 8: General Election polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Absentee ballot receipt deadline is 8 p.m.

  • Precinct 1: Johnston City Hall, 6221 Merle Hay Road
  • Precinct 2: Crown Point Community Center, 6300 Pioneer Parkway
  • Precinct 3: Stoney Creek Inn, 5291 Stoney Creek Court
  • Precinct 4: Johnston School District Office, 6510 NW 62nd Avenue
  • Precinct 5: Stoney Creek Inn, 5291 Stoney Creek Court
  • Precinct 6: Johnston City Hall, 6221 Merle Hay Road
  • Precinct 7: Hilton Garden Inn, 8600 Northpark Drive
  • Precinct 8: Johnston Public Library, 6700 Merle Hay Road
