There are also several inches of water over the trail in the Beaver Creek Natural Resource Area. Trail users are encouraged to use extra caution when biking, walking or running in this area. When the upper Beaver Creek watershed receives heavy amounts of rain, it will eventually flow downstream into Beaver Creek in Johnston, which causes flooding.
Johnston Parks will continue to monitor the trails and reopen them as the water levels recede.
Due to flooding and fast currents, the Johnston Water Trails are closed. Please do not go around the barricades or gates that are in place. These are put in place for your safety. More rain is expected and will cause Beaver Creek to continue to rise. The Johnston Parks Department will continue to monitor the trails near the Beaver Creek Natural Resource Area and the water trails. They will reopen them as the water recedes and Beaver Creek is safe.
