[ARCHIVED] JOHNSTON POLICE WELCOMES NEW OFFICER

The Johnston Police Department welcomes its newest member, Officer Hayes. Mayor Dierenfeld swore him in during the City Council meeting on Monday, Sept. 20.

Officer Hayes was previously with the Cook County Sheriff's Office in northern Minnesota. Prior to the Sheriff's office, he served as a Community Service Officer, Reserve Police Officer, and Code enforcement intern in a Twin Cities suburb. He comes to the Johnston Police Department with more than four years of experience.                  

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology from the University of Northwestern – Saint Paul. Officer Hayes is excited to serve the Johnston community and be closer to family while doing so.            

Officer Hayes is a certified police officer and will not have to attend the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. He has been assigned to patrol and will complete the department's field training program.
