On Tuesday, July 6, 2021, John Temple was recognized for filling the vacant seat after a former council member resigned earlier this year.

“I was excited to be a part of the Council during this time to continue guiding developments within Johnston,” said Councilman John Temple. “It has been exciting to see The Yard coming together and the completion of City Hall. I look forward to watching the important decisions being made in the future. The council members and Mayor are great representatives for our citizens and are excellent collaborators who work together very well. I'm sure Bryan Burkhardt will continue that fine tradition and I wish him well in his new position."

John Temple served on the Planning and Zoning Commission from 1998 to 2000, was first elected to City Council in 2000, serving until 2008, then returned to the Planning and Zoning Commission from 2008 to 2012. He was again elected to the Council in 2012 and left his seat in 2019. John was reappointed in Feb. 2021 to serve until the special election took place in June 2021.
