The City of Johnston wants to make sure residents and visitors are safe and informed. The CivicReady mass notification system is a communication service available to our residents to receive emergency and routine notifications. You have the ability to customize your notification preferences by signing up today.
Communication can be received through email, text and/or phone call according to your selections and based on address locations that you specify.
The City of Johnston will continue to use the notification system we had for calendar events, news flash updates, job postings and agendas.
The CivicReady system allows the City to push notifications based on missing persons, local threats, snow parking bans, road closures, utility disruptions (water main breaks), and other events that require rapid communication.
If you already have a profile set up, we would urge you to please update your address. The City now has the ability to geocode the emergency notifications. This system allows the City to send messages to residents or those driving into an emergency area. A few examples of emergencies could be the 10-inch flash flood event we had in 2019, or the tornados in 2020. If a resident were to be driving home during a future flood event, they would receive the notification once they entered the Johnston boundaries, or you would receive it if you are home at the time. The messages can be sent via email, text and they can also voice to text. Your selections will determine how you receive the messages.
