Ignit

The Johnston Ignit Sports Complex is a proposed privately owned sports facility in the Johnston Gateway. The project expects to open in 2023 and include Iowa's largest indoor track and soccer field in addition to indoor training facilities and a multi-purpose eight-court facility. Ignit also plans to construct outdoor volleyball courts, baseball fields and a high-end soccer field. The city is planning for an adjoining public park, which includes the metro's first cricket field, several soccer fields and a playground. The facility is planned to meet local residents' sports and recreation needs and host regional and national events. It is expected to attract over 400,000 annual visits, including more than 100,000 out-of-state visits.

  • Johnston Parks and Recreation will utilize portions of the Ignit facility to expand recreation programming.
