NW 100th Street Overlay Project08/30/2010 - 09/30/2010 (Public Works) Project Update and Notification NW 70th Avenue Shoulder Widening NWth 95th Court to Peckham Street, City of Johnston Date of Issue: August 30, 2010 Introduction: The purpose of this newsletter is to provide an update on the status of the City of Johnston’s NW 70th Avenue shoulder widening project. The project includes an asphalt shoulder reconstruction and widening along each side of the existing roadway. Project Purpose: The primary purpose of the project is to repair the deteriorated portions of the shoulders along the roadway. Schedule: Construction of the shoulder repair and widening is proposed to begin on Tuesday, August 31, 2010 and is anticipated to be substantially completed by September 10, 2010. Construction Staging: The contractor is required to maintain one lane of traffic during the hours of 6:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.. Access to the properties with driveways on NW 70th Avenue will be impacted during the shoulder widening activities. The contractor is responsible for the access coordination with the owner occupant’s and\or tenants of the properties with direct access off of NW 70th Avenue. The contractor is also responsible to maintain access for services such as mail delivery, school bus pickup and drop off, garbage and recycle pickup services. Project Team: The City of Johnston is the owner and public agency responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the roadway and improvements in the right-of-way. HDR Engineering is the design and construction contract administration consultant working with the City of Johnston on this project.
