The Johnston Fire Department is currently accepting applications for part-time/paid-on-call staff. The department seeks individuals already possessing Iowa or National Fire certifications and/or EMS certifications, but will train individuals wanting to work in a part-time/paid-on-call role. Johnston residency is not required, but candidates must live within an acceptable radius of Johnston as assessed by the hiring committee and Fire Chief. Compensation is competitive, DOQ. Applicants must possess a valid Iowa driver’s license, be at least 18 years of age, and be able to successfully complete a criminal history background check. The Johnston Fire Department also requires a doctor’s release stating members are physically qualified to participate in Fire Fighting/EMS activities.
