Chief Douglas Nichols

Chief Nichols served with the Des Moines Police Department for 33 years before coming to the Johnston Police Department in 2005. He has a B.A. degree in Business Administration and an M.S. degree in Criminal Justice. He has attended the FBI National Academy for Police Officers and the Senior Management Institute for Police sponsored by the Executive Research Forum.

Lieutenant Lynn Aswegan

Lt. Aswegan has over 18 years of law enforcement experience. He is the department's lead investigator, coordinates department training and is responsible for setting special operations for the department. Voicemail for Lt. Aswegan can be left at (515) 252-1363.

Sergeant Mike Martin

Sergeant Craig Porter

Sgt. Porter commands the midnight shift and has 32 years of law enforcement experience. Sergeant Eric Spring

Sgt. Spring commands the afternoon shift and has more than six years of law enforcement experience. Officer Joe Siembieda

Detective Siembieda has 14 years of law enforcement experience. Detective Siembieda is currently assigned to investigations. He is one of three Johnston officers that have been trained on the Strategic Anti-Felon Team (SAF-T).
