Agenda and minutesThe City of Johnston Comprehensive Plan was adopted by the City Council on December 7, 1998. Since that time multiple amendments have been made to the plan. Comprehensive Plan Land Use Map Included in the current Comprehensive Plan are area plans that have been adopted for specific areas of the community: Merle Hay Road Redevelopment Study The Merle Hay Road Redevelopment Study was adopted by the City Council on October 15, 2007. This study explores the redevelopment possibilities of Merle Hay Road particularly between NW 62nd Avenue and NW 66th Avenue. The Northwest Area is located southwest of Camp Dodge and west of NW 86th Street. This area lies north of NW 70th Avenue. A study was completed to refine the Comprehensive Plan based upon existing development trends and policies of the City of Johnston. The City Council approved an amendment to the Comprehensive Plan on February 6, 2006. On June 7, 2003, the City Council amended the Comprehensive Plans adding a section related to the land uses along the Beaver Ridge Area, the area along NW Beaver Drive from NW 66th Avenue to the northern city limits. On December 1, 2003, the City Council amended the Parks and Recreation element of the Comprehensive Plan. On April 20, 2009, the Johnston City Council approved Scenario 1A of the Roughwood Sub Area Plan. The Roughwood Area is located south of NW 54th Avenue and west of NW 86th Street.
