The City of Johnston is an MS4 City, which translates to: Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System. The City is responsible for compliance with the MS4 permit,which is issued by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and renewed every 5 years. There are over 40 MS4 cities and two state universities in Iowa.
