Community Development is responsible for a wide range of services, including the development and implementation of various long-range plans, reviewing and approving development proposals for new construction, building inspections and code enforcement, and the creation and administration of many capital improvement projects.

Council Approves Watershed Assessment and Stormwater Management Plan

watershed/stormwater plan cover The City of Johnston, with the assistance of Nilles Associates, Inc., Ankeny, Iowa, has completed a city-wide watershed assessment, which includes Beaver Creek, North Walnut Creek, Des Moines River and their tributaries. The city council has approved the plan.

2009 Comprehensive Plan Update

comp plan iconThe City of Johnston has contracted with Hoisington Koegler Group, Inc. to update the City of Johnston Comprehensive Plan. This year-long process will include evaluation of city services, housing, transportation and more. Public input is requested.
