  2. Neighborhood Picnic - 50th Anniversary Celebration

    July 16, 2019, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Adventure Ridge Park

    Johnston neighborhoods are an important part of our city as they provide security and a friendly place for residents to call home. To help neighborhoods celebrate our 50th anniversary, neighborhood picnics are being held in city parks throughout the summer. The next picnic will be held on Tuesday, July 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Adventure Ridge Park. The picnics provide an opportunity for neighbors to get to know each other, enjoy outdoor games and activities while taking advantage of free dinner provided by Hy-Vee.

  4. Camp Dodge Free Concert Series - Abby Normal - Johnston 50th Anniversary Celebration

    July 18, 2019, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM @ Camp Dodge Poolhouse Building

    This Iowa National Guard Adjunct General's Summer Concert Series will feature a fan favorite Abby Normal and will close the series with timeless rock n' roll in honor of first responders and the City of Johnston's 50th anniversary.

    Concessions will be available, but coolers, picnic baskets, and tailgating are also welcome. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs. In the event of inclement weather, concerts will be moved indoors to the Camp Dodge Freedom Center.

    Come to Crosshaven Park, located at 7909 NW 95th Street for a free outdoor showing on the big screen of The Incredibles 2 on Friday, July 19, beginning at dusk. Bring your yard blankets and lawn chairs. Kids can also enjoy an inflatable from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Free popcorn will be provided. No reservation is necessary. This free event is made possible because of Co-op Financial Services.

    WHAT WILL THE RETURN BE USED FOR? - 50% or more must be used to reduce property taxes - The remainder will be used for Public Safety, Roads/Sidewalks, Parks, Youth Sports/Recreational Facilities and Library
