PINK PATCHES RAISE MONEY FOR A GOOD CAUSE

Officers Pink Patch Project

The Johnston Police Department took part in the Pink Patch Project, a collaborative public campaign for October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Through donations and patch sales, the department raised $2,767.70 for Susan G. Komen Greater Iowa.

“This is the first time our department has participated in the project, and it has been very rewarding to see our community come together,” said Jessica Jensen Johnston Police Lieutenant. “The initiative helped raise funds and generate awareness for breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment. Our department is extremely grateful for community members who purchased pink patches to support our efforts.”

Breast cancer has personally touched many within the Johnston Police Department, so this project was more than just raising money. It provided an opportunity to create conversations about what many of our members have or are currently going through. Being a police officer is about protecting your community and protecting the ones you love. “Our community is always so generous in supporting our department and the causes we support throughout the year,” said Jensen.

We look forward to taking part in the Pink Patch Project in 2021!
