The Greater Des Moines Partnership, Polk County and the City of Johnston have completed the review of applications for assistance from area businesses affected by the COVID-19 closures and restrictions. Eighteen Johnston businesses will receive financial assistance awards of up to $5,000. The total amount being granted to Johnston businesses is $85,000.00.
“It makes me proud that our community stepped up to help our local businesses during this COVID-19 crisis,” said Mayor Paula Dierenfeld. “Businesses receiving grants included restaurants, retailers, hair salons, and other businesses directly impacted by COVID-19 and were awarded $2,000 to $5,000 to help get them through these difficult times. Thank you to every business within our community for your resilience, and to the residents who support local. As I have said many times before, together, we will all get through this challenging time.”
The $2.5 million metro area grant program is funded by the City of Johnston, JEDCO, Polk County, The Greater Des Moines Partnership and many great local organizations. These grants will help our local businesses and is a way to invest in our community’s recovery.
