[ARCHIVED] CELEBRATE EARTH DAY

EARTH DAY 2020_250X210

Each year, communities across the world celebrate Earth Day as a way to increase awareness of environmental issues. This year is special as it marks the 50th anniversary of this holiday. The theme this year is Climate Action.

Think about how to serve the plant this week and our waterways – clean up litter on your walk or walk around your home, plant a tree, or simply enjoy the nature that surrounds us.

Below are ways to celebrate our earth all year round.

  • Don’t litter on the land. Keep a bag in your car, in your backpack or purse to contain trash that can then be put in a garbage can.
  • Convert fruit and vegetable waste to Black Gold. Buy or build a compost bin. Add your fruit and vegetable waste, lawn clippings and leaves to the heap.
  • Scoop your pet’s poop. It pollutes.
  • Repurpose furniture. Instead of buying new, replace handles, take off doors or try painting it blue.
