The City of Johnston is excited to announce a new partnership with a financial software vendor, Tyler Technologies, providing transparency in budget data. Residents can now access real-time financial information, which is updated weekly through Tyler Socrata Open Finance. Johnston’s Open Finances is designed to automatically answer the most commonly asked questions and encourage resident participation and collaboration.
“Open Finances is part of our commitment to provide complete financial transparency,” said Finance Director Teresa Rotschafer. “Open Finances guides users and breaks down complex financial data to help users easily decipher financial information within their City government. As City leaders work on the new fiscal budget, we want our residents to be engaged and understand how their money is being used to improve infrastructure and quality of life within their community.”
This new partnership will help residents learn the City’s priorities and the impacts it has on them and their neighborhoods. It also provides historical data and trend analysis with graphics to quickly understand the information. The interactive charts and graphs assist with enhancing the understanding of City financial data.
