The Johnston Police Department welcomed three new officers during the City Council meeting on Monday, November 4, 2019. Each of the officers was officially sworn-in by Mayor Paula Dierenfeld and welcomed by each member of the council.
Jared Love has served with the Johnston Police Department since February 2019 as a civilian Community service Officer (CSO) in the Field Operations Division. While this position provided Jared a great opportunity to interact with the community, becoming a police officer was always a long-term goal. In August 2019, he was appointed to the Johnston Police Department as a police cadet. He graduated from Hawkeye Community College Level II Law Enforcement Academy on October 25, 2019. Before becoming a member of the department, he worked for Drake University’s Public Safety Department while also serving as a reserve deputy with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Jared is a proud veteran of the United States Army. He is a graduate of Kaplan University with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice. Jared has already begun the department’s field training program. He looks forward to re-engaging with the public now that he has completed his police academy training.
Andrey Naidenoff was appointed to the Johnston Police Department as a police cadet in August 2019. On November 1, 2019, he graduated from the West Iowa Technical (WIT) Community College Level II Law Enforcement Academy. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Wayne State College. Andrey is excited to bring his commitment to community policing to the residents of the Johnston community.
Dylan Petermeier was appointed to the Johnston Police Department as a police cadet in August 2019 and graduated from WIT’s Level II law enforcement academy on November 1, 2019. During graduation, he was recognized with the Director’s Academic Achievement Award for finishing at the top of his recruit class. Dylan is also a proud member of the Iowa Air National Guard, serving as a Senior Airman with the USAF 132nd Wing. He holds an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from DMACC. Dylan looks forward to building trust with the public we serve through community engagement.
“As our community needs grow, adding officers to our team to support these efforts is important,” said Police Chief Dennis McDaniel. “Each of these officers has a strong commitment and drive to succeed in our ongoing community policing efforts so that they will fit in well. I look forward to seeing each of them reach their professional potential within our department and community. Together, we make Johnston a safer place to live.”
