[ARCHIVED] TWO JOHNSTON PARKS RECEIVE NEW PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT

Playground Equipment Johnston Parks

In October, the installation of a large, multi-use playground and swing set will be complete at Ray Schleihs Park. A train theme sets this park apart from the others in our community, as it is along the old interurban rail. The surface will be one that parents will enjoy as it is built with 2’ x 2’ interlocking mats, so no mess! We are excited to see all the kids playing on this equipment soon!

Greenwood Hills Park will soon have new playground equipment for children to enjoy. The Johnston Parks Department anticipates this to open in October and one that families will enjoy as it focuses on natural settings located around the park.  A poured-in-place surface will provide wheelchair access for all users. And, a wheelchair swing will be installed later this fall once it comes in (the only one in Johnston). A multi-use trail is also being installed to give better access for park users.
