National Public Works Week is about celebrating the role public works professionals play in keeping communities safe and functioning smoothly. The objective is designed to increase public awareness of worker contributions and enlighten the public about the duties, practices, and goals of public works professionals.

The Johnston Public Works Department has 24 employees ensuring we have good quality drinking water, our sewer system flows effectively, traffic signals work properly, streets are repaired when needed and our fleet services vehicles repaired in-house. Within the city, we have 106 miles of streets or 234 lane miles, 81 miles of sanitary sewer and 75 miles of storm sewer.

Below are short video clips of the divisions within Public Works. These videos provide knowledge, information, and insight into each of the areas.
