Nationally, the month of October is recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This is a cause that firefighters have been supporting across the nation.

Did you know? Female firefighters are more likely to develop breast cancer than the general population, and male firefighters are 7.5 times more likely than the general population to die of breast cancer.

In 2016, firefighters were the number one fund raiser for the Susan G. Komen Passionately Pink program, raising a total of $108,948. To raise awareness firefighters are authorized to wear pink T-shirts as part of their uniform the month of October. The Johnston-Grimes firefighters are selling the shirts, but the deadline to order is October 7. All proceeds will be going to a community member in need!

To place your order, please email your name, size, quantity, and phone number to jpff4835@gmail.com. Cost is $20/each. All shirts will need to be paid for and picked up at one of our three fire stations. The firefighters will notify you once the shirts are available to be picked up.
