Drivers should take notice of the new speed limit signs and flashing traffic signals within the school zones along NW 62nd Street.
The flashing traffic signals are intended to increase the safety of pedestrians, mostly school-age children, crossing the street. Beyond the school zones, the speed limit was raised from 25 to 35 mph to allow traffic to move quicker and smoother, which decreases rear-end crashes.
Residents traveling in these areas should use caution as drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians become familiar with this change. For questions regarding this change, please contact our Public Works Director at 515-278-0822 or mgreiner@cityofjohnston.com.
