CITY COUNCIL APPOINTS NEW COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST
The Johnston City Council voted Monday night to appoint Janet Wilwerding as the Communication Specialist for the City of Johnston. A hiring team which included city staff and elected officials selected Wilwerding, who is the current Communication Specialist for the City of Pleasant Hill.
“Janet understands the importance of effective communications in city government. Janet’s skills and experience allow her to seamlessly step into this position and hit the ground running. Her ability to manage the website, craft newsletters and social media messages, develop press releases and stories for the media while effectively prioritizing these for each city department and our community is superior,” said Johnston City Administrator Jim Sanders
In addition to her role in Pleasant Hill, Janet’s past employment and her educational background made Janet the leading candidate for many reasons. “We are excited to welcome Janet as part of the Johnston team. We can’t wait for her to get started so she can help us tell the stories about all the great things happening within our community”, said Mayor Paula Dierenfeld.
