[ARCHIVED] NATIONAL DRUG TAKE BACK DAY IS APRIL 30

DRUG TAKE BACK DAY (250 X210 px)

If your spring cleaning list calls for clearing out the medicine cabinet, this event is for you. The Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA’s) National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient and confidential way of disposing of prescription drugs while educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.

The Johnston Public Safety Building at 6373 Merle Hay Road is offering a drop-off on Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to accept expired, unwanted, and unused prescription medications. Liquids (including intravenous solutions), syringes and other sharps, and illegal drugs will not be accepted. The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked.

The DEA will accept vaping devices and cartridges at its drop-off locations provided lithium batteries are removed.

Helping people dispose of potentially harmful prescription drugs is just one way DEA is working to reduce addiction and stem overdose deaths.
