In light of the updated COVID-19 recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the City of Johnston has rescinded the March 2020 and November 2020 proclamations that required the use of masks in city-owned buildings and encouraged the use in other public places.
The updated CDC guidelines allow residents who are fully vaccinated to resume activities without wearing masks or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, or regulations, including local business and workplace guidance. Individuals who are not fully vaccinated are encouraged to continue wearing a mask when entering city-owned buildings.
To ensure the health and safety of our community, we encourage you to get vaccinated.
Johnston City Hall, Public Works, Crown Point Community Center and the Johnston Public Library will encourage masks, but they will not be required for those who are fully vaccinated.
Individual businesses can require masks within their locations. Patrons should abide by individual business requirements to keep their customers and employees safe and healthy.
