Kempton Bridge & NW 66th Avenue Improvements - A Polk County project involving the city of Johnston.
Project Update (11/27/18): At this time, the project contractor intends to complete the traffic paint and other items necessary to open the entire project to traffic by the end of the day on Friday, November 30. There will, however, be occasional lane closures during the next 2 to 3 weeks as weather conditions allow to complete incidental work on the shoulders and ditches.
In addition, work is scheduled to begin next week on the installation of the permanent traffic signals at NW 26th Street. Unfortunately, delays in the manufacture of certain signal components have hampered the completion of this work, but we are hopeful they can be completed and activated by the end of this calendar year.
Next spring, work will proceed on placing the final road surface or “lift” of asphalt on the entire project including the final pavement markings. Permeant erosion control measures will also be completed in the spring.
Please note we are also proceeding with installation of traffic signals at the intersection of NW 66 Avenue and NW Toni Drive. Again, material delays are impacting the timeline for this work, but we hope to have them operational in the spring/early summer time period.
