This construction update is a method to communicate construction related activities for the above referenced project to the public. This project is part of the City’s efforts to improve roadway safety and overall drainage in the immediate vicinity. The following is a brief summary of activities that have taken place since the last update and a brief look at what will be coming in the future. Stage 1 construction is on schedule to be completed by July 31, 2020.

TRAFFIC CONTROL | Underground utility work at the intersection of NW 62nd Avenue and Merle Hay Road will require a weekend long closure from 6:00 pm on Friday, June 26th to 6:00 am on Tuesday, June 30. During this period, there will be additional detour signing to allow travelers to get from one side of the intersection to the other. Please continue to follow posted detours and signs for local business entrances.

UTILITY COORDINATION | MidAmerican Electric Company is continuing to work on relocating their facilities underground. They have installed most of the conduit and will begin installing gears and pedestals soon. MidAmerican Gas Company has almost completed their work and will be contacting residents in the near future about relighting their pilot lights. Mediacom, CenturyLink, and Windstream fiber relocation's have begun and will continue to occur during June and July.

SANITARY SEWER AND WATER MAIN CONSTRUCTION | A majority of the water main has been installed. Water services have begun being installed along NW 62nd Avenue. There may be short periods of water outages as the Contractor makes new service connections. The Contractor is almost done installing sanitary sewer along the south side of NW 62nd Avenue. The Contractor will begin installing storm sewer under NW 62nd Avenue west of Merle Hay Road and continuing to work to the east.

PCC PAVEMENT | The entrances to the Bait Shop and Barber Shop along Merle Hay Road will be completed soon along with the accompanying southbound lanes of traffic on Merle Hay Road.
